Biography
Rich is an experienced data scientist and leader, passionate about the innovative use of AI, technology and data to transform citizens' experience of government. With an academic background in Physics (MPhys from Cardiff University), Rich thrives when analysing complex problems and understanding how ecosystems work.
Rich specialises in leveraging textual data, particularly through the application of Large Language Models and Generative AI, to deliver public sector innovation, automation, and to derive insights.
Rich currently works with the Government Digital Service, but previously worked with the UK Health Security Agency in an AI innovation team. Prior to working in the public sector, Rich worked for 7 years in the private sector, in the energy and financial services industries, leveraging AI to build user-facing applications and personalising user experiences.
Rich enjoys working closely with experts in other disciplines to deliver impactful solutions, and is regularly working with Information Architects to do so. In his spare time, Rich enjoys making music, playing tennis, boxing and is an avid rugby fan.
