Daniel Rosenberg

Prof. Rosenberg is a UX consultant and also an adjunct professor of HCI at San Jose State University within the MS Human Factors Engineering program. He has been affiliated with the MS HFE program for 10 years.

Prior to joining SJSU, Rosenberg was a Senior Vice President at SAP for 7 years. In this capacity he directed user experience design and usability activities across all SAP product lines. Prior to joining SAP, he was Vice President of R&D for UI Design at Oracle Corporation for 11 years. Previous corporate positions included the role of User Interface Architect for Borland International and Ashton-Tate. While at Borland he designed the first Windows GUI for Borland C++ as well as many other early innovative product user interfaces for personal computers.

Dan invented many of the standard GUI design patterns we use today during the early days of the software industry, when he worked as a User Interface Architect for Ashton-Tate & Borland. These include the first GUI Integrated Development Environment, defining the workspace style UX for programming and creative tools. He invented Tabs as a UI mechanism and also designed the first GUI administration UX while he was the UX VP at Oracle.
