Mahima Pushkarna is a UX Designer at Google AI, where she designs novel, visualization-based digital products and interfaces for applied machine learning research as a part of the Big Picture Data Visualization group. The tools and frameworks that she has designed have been widely used in industry and academia alike to advance better practices in machine learning and more robust human-AI partnerships. As a part of Google's People + AI Research Initiative, she studies the changing nature of design practices due to AI and Machine Learning. She tends to wear many hats – UI/UX, visual design, strategy and design research, and has previously spoken on Design and Machine Learning. Prior to Google, she worked at Innovation by Design as a product designer, consulted for MIT's Design Lab and designed self-evolving visualization tools at Ion Interactive. She holds an MFA in Information Design & Data Visualization from Northeastern University, and studied Visual Communication Design at Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology and at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
