Towards a knowledge graph for the House of Commons Library (with Silver Oliver)
In person talk at WIAD London 2025
The House of Commons Library plays a vital role providing MPs with authoritative research and information services through its expert research team.
This talk explores how the Library is transforming its information architecture through the development of a knowledge graph that aligns its diverse research outputs and services.
At the heart of this transformation is the Single Subject View project, which creates a unified data model anchored by a carefully curated thesaurus.
By connecting previously siloed information resources and standardising how topics and entities are referenced across systems, the project enables more efficient research workflows and improved discovery of relevant content.
The implementation of this knowledge graph promises significant benefits, including a more cohesive user experience for MPs and their staff, stronger governance of research data assets, and accelerated development of new digital services.
