1:45 PM "How Information Architecture Helps Us Navigate Rapid Changes" Presented by Chris R. Becker, Senior UX Designer, Educator, Author
Information architecture is a living breathing reflection of organizations and of rapid change. Change can happen from many places (user needs, AI shifts, stakeholders, market headwinds, etc). We'll learn how IA helps align people who are making rapid changes; expose rapid changes and can be a living record of change; and facilitate a 10,000 ft-view for leaders overseeing rapid change.
2:25 PM Break
2:40 PM "Accessibility: It's Not Rocket Science" Presented by Paul Lumsdaine, Head of Research and Design Operations, Enterprise Business Information Services, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Accessibility benefits everyone, and makes the world more usable for people with disabilities. But why aren’t companies prioritizing accessibility and why do teams struggle to make accessible products? The answer is actually much simpler than you might think.
Paul will talk about how information architects, including designers and researchers, will pave the way to a more accessible future.
Why this talk matters:
- Technology and design has made information much more accessible to the masses but has unintentionally also created barriers
- Getting teams and organizations to make the world more accessible is critical to our future
If you’re already familiar with usability, user experience, information architecture, and product design, this talk will deepen your understanding of how accessibility benefits everyone and how researchers and designers can lead the way in creating services and products that are more usable for all.
